Trask-Decrow Machinery Selects the Elite VIS OnSite™ System to Monitor, Secure and Manage their Equipment Rental Fleet
7 Jun 2013 (Cherry Hill, New Jersey) Elite VIS, a leader in advanced mobile asset tracking, monitoring, communications, and remote systems controls, announces that Trask-Decrow Machinery with headquarters in Scarborough, Maine has selected OnSite™ to assist the company in maximizing the operational availability of its fleet of commercial rental equipment with OnSite’s advanced, real-time tracking, maintenance monitoring, and exception alert systems.
Trask-Decrow selected OnSite™ after rigorous in-field testing over a 5 month period through the harshest New England winter months. During this operational exercise, OnSite™ provided geolocation data, fleet management, security, and maintenance reporting with high reliability. Trask-Decrow’s mobile assets are distributed throughout New England for both short-term and long-term operations. OnSite™ ensures that these mobile assets are operationally ready by conforming to “Hours of Service” and “Service Since Last Maintenance” requirements. The OnSite™ Maintenance Lock-out feature prevents equipment from entering the field if monitored maintenance line items have not been completed.
In addition to operational evaluation testing conducted by Trask-Decrow, OnSite™ has been successfully tested in the Pacific Northwest and Grand Canyon. OnSite™ is compact for either internal or external installation in any mobile or stationary operational asset. An optional mini-solar panel enables OnSite™ to monitor and report on construction and mobile equipment for extended operational periods or when equipment batteries or primary power sources fail.
“We have over 35 years of experience in renting and leasing high-end mobile equipment like pumps, compressors, lighting and generators, as well as snow making systems. Knowing the location and maintenance health status of our equipment is imperative to the success of our business. OnSite™ gives us what we need and presents the real-time results in a consolidated, easy-to-use graphical dashboard display, allowing our dispatch and maintenance staff to quickly identify service issues and dispatch our maintenance trucks,” says Jake Decrow, Service Manager, Trask-Decrow. “In addition, the Maintenance Lock-out feature prevents our sales team from accidently releasing equipment that is either in maintenance, or is due for service.”
L.L. Oliver, Technical Solution Provider for Elite VIS says, “Working directly with Trask-Decrow has been instrumental in guiding us to providing the precise solution to meet the rigorous operational, security and maintenance demands of their rental and service fleets. By increasing operational availability through real-time location and operational status monitoring and decreasing improper usage, the OnSite system is helping Trask-Decrow minimize or eliminate unnecessary equipment down-time and increase profits.”
The basic OnSite™ configuration includes 5 independent sensor applications and 5 wireless remote control outputs, and can be expanded to include 255 sensors, including wireless sensors and increased remote systems control capacity for larger applications. OnSite™ includes other important Elite VIS features such as Vehicle Maintenance Reporting System (VMRS™), Fleet Dispatch™, Service Match™, and OpEval™.

14 May 2013: (Cherry Hill, New Jersey) Elite VIS, a leader in advanced mobile asset tracking, monitoring, communications, and remote systems controls, announces the release of its Vehicle Maintenance Reporting System, VMRS™.
A state-of-the-art digital system, VMRS™ measures, monitors, verifies and reports on the status and optimal timing for more than 40 critical maintenance issues plus all alerts generated by the vehicle’s on-board computer. The heart of the VMRS™ system is a proprietary, expert database developed by analyzing a wide-range of vehicles over more than 15 million over-the-road and off-road miles across some of the harshest environments throughout North America. By measuring, verifying and reporting on continuous sensor and connector data readings to determine the optimal timing for recommended maintenance action, VMRS™ promotes extended equipment life, an increase in Mean Time Between (System) Failures (or MTBF), longer asset availability, and higher “turn-arounds.”
As an addition to Elite VIS’ extensive list of vehicle protection and security features, VMRS™ is the first product available to provide comprehensive maintenance monitoring and reporting for both powered and unpowered systems. Tractors as well as trailers can now utilize the powerful Elite VIS maintenance reporting features to improve both productivity and operational cost efficiency per mile. Untimely and unexpected maintenance of commercial vehicles and mobile assets are the largest contributors to escalating operational costs, resulting in higher delivery costs for products and services.
Now, with the addition of VMRS™, Elite VIS is able to provide comprehensive maintenance monitoring and reporting from the front of the tractor to the rear of the trailer. In addition to monitoring and reporting the vehicle’s optimal timing of maintenance service requirements for virtually all replaceables, VMRS also monitors and alerts on all critical power-train conditions reported through the J1939 and OBD2 connectors, where available. Alternatively, Elite VIS can incorporate specialized sensors to read power-train, tire pressure and other important system’s data for both tractors and trailers.
Additionally, VMRS™ generates a cloud-based Electronic Maintenance Record (EMR) of all maintenance line item details, including action, cost, and profits (for service centers). The EMR feature enables fleet managers to customize separate plans for individual assets and to interface with external accounting or operator software systems.
VMRS™ is available on any new or existing Elite VIS installation starting in June 2013. While maintenance sensors are not necessary, they are available separately for required or specialty applications like tire pressure and refrigeration systems.
